Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is the use of
alternating hot and cold water temperatures to stimulate blood flow, and aid
in detoxification. During a treatment, hot water brings blood flow to the
skins surface allowing for muscle relaxation and blood vessel vasodilation
(expansion). When this is alternated with the cold water treatment, blood
flow is pushed inward towards the vital organs. This act of shunting back
and forth the bodies circulation system (and hence your immune cells,
oxygen, and nutrients with it) has a variety of beneficial effects
including:
-
Detoxification
-
Enhances the elimination
of wastes and toxic materials
-
Enhances blood and
lymphatic circulation
-
Increases the bodies
production of digestive enzymes
-
Enhances digestion and
nutrient assimilation
-
Increases oxygenation (and
therefore function) of the internal organs
-
Increased cellular
metabolism
-
Increased tissue
oxygenation and health
-
Improves blood flow
through the spleen (a blood filtering organ)
-
Mobilization of white
blood cells
Studies have shown an
increase in white blood cell count after only three treatments with some
forms of hydrotherapy!
