Maria Bernadette “Bernadette” Javier has over 10 years of experience working with children and youth with a wide range of concerns, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Autism spectrum disorders, Learning disabilities, trauma, and behavioural concerns. For the past 4 yours, Bernadette has also been working with adults and with families encountering various difficulties. Some of these difficulties include, Anxiety, Depression, living and working with ADHD, Autism and Learning disabilities, adoption, coping skills, career and transitions, retirement, relationship and self-esteem, and so on.
She is currently practicing under supervised practice with Eastwood Psychologists in Brampton providing child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy and coaching services. As well, Bernadette provides senior behaviour therapy to children and youth diagnosed with Autism who receive funding for Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) in Toronto, Peel and Halton regions. Bernadette is also involved in the Teach ADHD research website from the Hospital for Sick Children and About Kids Health in Toronto.
Bernadette is excited to expand her psychotherapy and coaching practice in Waterloo. At The Natural Way Health Clinic, Bernadette’s goal is to provide clients a safe and confidential space to work on difficulties relating to mental, social, emotional and behavioural skills. She works within a biological-psychological-social (Bio-Psycho-Social) model , where consideration to the mind, body and how the various socio-environmental factors are integral to well-being.
Bernadette is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, a COGMED coach, and a certified Level 1 Provider of the Developmental-Individual Difference-Relationship-based Model (DIR) with the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning in Bethesda, Maryland. Bernadette is also currently under supervised practice to be a licensed Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She is a graduate of Master of Clinical Psychology at the Adler School of Professional Studies, a member of Ontario Psychological Association, Ontario Association for Behaviour Analysis, and American Psychological Association. Bernadette speaks English and Filipino.
